It’s little surprise that virtually all judges when asked to comment on what they’ve just seen nearly always express disappointment and say ‘the work this year was worse than normal’ or ‘not up to last year’s standard’ or suchlike. It’s a cruel combination of low blood sugar, human nature and the hard stats that show that only 5% of the work will ever be any good.
