Money speaks, but it speaks with a male voice. In the hands of women, money stays literal, count it out, it buys what it is worth or less. In the hands of men, money buys women, sex, status, dignity, esteem, recognition, loyalty, all manner of possibility.

[ Andrea Dworkin, from “Pornography: Men Possessing Women”, via MONEY IS IN THE SINEWS OF LOVE, in More Intelligent Life ]

I can see why Dworkin said this, but I wonder if it’s true anymore. I think money could certainly buy me status, dignity, recognition, and possibly loyalty (though maybe only professional or friendly loyalty). I also think it could buy me time, which could lead to my improving my appearance, which would certainly help out with the sex & [wo]men.

I think time is especially key. With more time, I’d be able to do more in general.
